Fall 2008 Final Project

Due Date: Thurs., Dec. 18th, 4:00 p.m.

The final project for this course involves using various technologies to create a musical package containing a printed score and a recorded representation of the music in the format of a MIDI file. You have a choice of two different musical examples for your project. One of them involves some notation and more of an emphasis on sequencing, while the other emphasizes notation skills and some sequencing.

Goals

1. To demonstrate skills related to using music notation software

2. To demonstrate skills related to using a sequencing program

3. To demonstrate the ability to create a type 1 MIDI file

4. To demonstrate the ability to create a musical recording using various aspects of the General MIDI protocol

Grading Criteria

This project will be graded on two levels. First, you will be graded on how well you meet the specific criteria for the project as listed on each of the project pages. Second you will be graded on the musicality and professionalism of your results. For notation, this involves how professional your final score looks. For sequencing, this refers to how musical your recording is.
