Final Project

Notation Requirements

Create a notation file of the example with the following components:

1. Transcribe this piece for Quintet and solo treble voice. The quintet may be either brass (2 trpts, hrn, trb, and tuba), woodwind (fl., ob., cl. hrn, and bassoon), or strings (2 vln., vla, 'cello, and bass)
2. Notate each instrument on its own staff. The final result should be a transposing score, but you might want to enter all the information in concert pitch first.
3. Keep in mind the instrument ranges
4. Be sure to include the repeat structure as well as the first and second ending brackets
5. Include all tempo and dynamic markings
6. Include all lyrics in the voice part
7. Include title and composer information
8. Include your name as a footer
9. Format the document so it will fit on five pages.
10. This may be done using either Sibelius or Finale

*Turn in a printout of the transposing score and the electronic version of the file*

Recording Requirements

Complete the recording of the above example in Reason with the following components:

1. Record the melody using the Subtractor Synth that is labelled "Melody".
2. Complete the recording of the accompaniment using the NN19.
3. Create a drum part using the ReDrum Drum Computer already in the rack.
4. You may not delete, add or change the equipment in the rack. Use only the equipment currently in the rack.
5. Create a timbre for the melody using the controls on the Subtractor Synth (you may not load any of the preset voices). You must use both oscillators set to different waveforms. Your timbre must not obscure the pitch of the melody. You must add a subtle amount of vibrato and the timbre must be different for the verse than it is for the chorus.
7. You must create and use atleast two different and distinct drum patterns. The work is in 6/8 but it really alternates 6/8 and 3/4 so make sure your drum pattern stresses that change. Your patterns must be used at different times and each must use atleast three instruments.
8. Remember to use the controls on the Mixer for balance and to add to the ensemble sound.
9. Name your file xxxxxxxxAmerica.rns

*Submit the Reason file (.rns) through Sakai*
