Introduction to Computer Technology for Musicians
Technology plays an integral role in every discipline, and music is no exception. Regardless of major, technology has become a growing part of the field.
This course is designed to help you become more familar with the technological tools that may be useful to you both in your studies here at IC and in the professional world. The class is structured in four basic units. The first three focus mainly on digital audio concepts. We start by exploring the fundamentals of digital audio and basic recording editing skills. The second unit expands on thos eskills by adding MIDI recording and editing while working with a loop-based DAW. The third unit expands on all this plus moving into the realm of sound creation through the use of synthesizers, drum machines, effect processors, etc. Finally, we will spend time with music notation programs.
