Melodic Analysis


Analyze the following melody, using the lower staff the illustrate the various techniques utilized. This should include such elements as the basic motive (there may be more than one) and how those motives are develped, long-range stepwise motion created by sequence or other maens, the use of chordal arpeggiation or compound melody, and rhythmic techniques such as syncopation or hemiola.

 


Analyze the following compound melodies, using the bottom staff to illustrate the compound structure. The first one suggests two parts, while the second one suggests three.
