Final Project version #2

Notation Requirements

Create a notation file of the example with the following components:

1. Transcribe this piece for Quartet and solo treble voice. The quartet may be either string (2 violins, viola, and cello), woodwind (fl., ob., cl. and bassoon), or brass (2 Trpts., Hn in F, Trom. (or Tuba)).
2. Notate each instrument on its own staff. The final result should be a transposing score, but you might want to enter all the information in concert pitch first.
3. Keep in mind the instrument ranges.
4. Be sure to include the repeat structure as well as the first and second ending brackets.
5. Include all tempo and dynamic markings.
6. Include all lyrics in the voice part for verses 1 and 2 (be sure the special German characters are correct).
7. Include title and composer information.
8. Include your name as a footer.
9. Format the document so you can fit two systems per page.
10. This should be done using either Sibelius or Finale.

*Turn in a printout of the transposing score and submit the electronic file through Blackboard*

Sequencer Requirements

Create a MIDI file of the above example with the following components:

1. Record a transcription of this example for Quartet (same instrumentation as above) and solo instrument (your choice, but something other than a keyboard instrument)
2. Each instrument should be recorded on its own track, using tracks 1-5
3. Record the example 1 time through, do not repeat, go directly to the 2nd ending
4. Make all necessary adjustments to tempo, volume, key velocity, etc., in order to make this a very musical recording
5. Create this recording in CuBase or Reason. You may not simply export a MIDI file from the notation program
6. Name your files xxxxxxxxSylvia.cpr and xxxxxxxxSylvia.mid or xxxxxxxxSylvia.rns

*Turn in the CuBase file (.cpr) and the MIDI file (.mid)* If you create the file in Reason, just turn in the Reason file (.rns). Submit these through blackboard at the same time you submit the electronic notation file.

This is due no later than 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, Dec. 16th
